Steve Koczela

Steve Koczela has grown The MassINC Polling Group from its infancy to a nationally known and respected polling provider. He frequently appears in local, state, and national media outlets discussing polling, politics, and policy. His analysis appears at CNN, WBUR, NHPR, CommonWealth Magazine, and elsewhere.

Prior to founding The MassINC Polling Group, he led survey research programs for the U.S. Department of State in Iraq, in key states for President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, and conducted surveys and polls on behalf of many private corporations.

He is past President of the New England Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (NEAAPOR) and serves as Associate Editor of the Statistical Journal of the IAOS. He lives in Melrose, Massachusetts, and is a veteran of the war in Iraq.

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith is Staff Reporter at CommonWealth Magazine. She was formerly News Editor of the Dorchester Reporter and is an alum of the Boston Globe and the German Press Agency.

She brings a deep understanding of municipal affairs, a product of her years of reporting, to provide thoughtful analysis of state and city news.

Lisa Kashinsky

Lisa Kashinsky is the author of the Massachusetts Playbook. Kashinsky is based in Boston and previously covered politics, state government and the 2020 presidential election for the Boston Herald.

She is also an alum of The Eagle-Tribune, The Patriot Ledger and Wicked Local, and has won several regional awards for her work.

Kashinsky graduated from Boston University with degrees in journalism and psychology.
