The Horse Race Podcast Ending After 400 Episodes
After 400 episodes, 5 cohosts, countless honorifics bestowed, dozens of dubious products reviewed, 1 summer miniseries, 4 original songs, and thousands of recording hours, Massachusetts’s best political podcast ran its final lap this week.
We’re sad to be saying goodbye to The Horse Race, but we leave much as we began: fascinated by the wild place we call Massachusetts and obsessed with the politics, policy, and elections that make the #mapoli magic happen. The pod began with the idea that talking about politics could be fun. It certainly has been for us.
A few thank yous are in order. Thank you to the cohosts and producers that made it happen. Thank you to our guests for joining and sharing their ideas, wisdom, and horse puns. Thank you to all who came to our live events, including one at Suffolk Downs’ final summer. Thank you to our trivia players. Your thousands or millions of trivia points will be worth as much as they ever were. And most of all, thank you to our listeners for saddling up and riding with us all these years.
Is this the final, final end? Who knows? We at MPG will still produce the things you want in whatever media format comes next. Jenn and I are sticking around in Massachusetts politics and media. Our spurs are still in the barn, or on our boots, or wherever they are supposed to be. Our saddles are … wherever they are supposed to be kept. Should that trumpet call us to the post again, we’d be hard pressed not to answer.
But for now, it’s back to the stables for a rest.
